The Georgia Section of the American Water Works Association (GAWWA) is steadfast in Giving Back to the Georgia water industry and our communities and helping to provide safe drinking water here in Georgia and abroad. The Section has several philanthropic committees; members are encouraged to get involved by attending an event, donating, or volunteering to help lead a committee or activity!

Attend an Event

  • No Water No Beer Festival – Event historically has been held on a Saturday evening in April or May each year in the Metro Atlanta Area, coordinated with Drinking Water Professionals Day in Georgia. Due to COVID, the 2021 event will be held in the Fall (date TBD). Profits from the event are donated to Water for People, Rivers Alive, GAWWA Scholarship Fund, AWWA Water Equation, and Engineers Without Borders. At the No Water No Beer Festival, the Water Buffalos raffle off donated items, with proceeds donated to Water for People.
  • Water for People Barbeque Cook-Off Competition – Event held on Sunday prior to the Annual Conference held in Savannah, GA in July. Proceeds are donated to Water for People.
  • Popcorn for People – Donate to Water for People at the Annual Conference in Savannah at the GAWWA Exhibit Hall Booth and get popcorn throughout the conference.

Donate
GAWWA awards two $1,500 non-renewable scholarships annually. Scholarships are awarded to individual members of GAWWA or their children. Beginning in 2018, GAWWA will begin awarding the Water Equation Scholarship (multiple awards totaling up to $2,000). This scholarship will be awarded to operator members pursuing additional education and certifications in the water industry. To donate directly to the GAWWA scholarship fund, please contact Eric Osborne at Sec.Tres@GAWWA.org.
